Although personally I felt the move from back to being a single release rather episodic hurt the game. I shared a personal experience but you responded in a way like either I should be upset that IOI did the same thing and spoiler: I couldn't care less because I wouldn't call myself a Hitman "fan" or that I'm unjustified and overreacted to B元's exclusive deal. "Hitman goes exclusive" was probably not a big head line that got much attention. Regardless, it was definitely one of it not the biggest exclusive controversy. I'm talking about a single but large developer and publisher team that released 3 games and dozens of dlc over a decade with a large pc fan base.

Plus compared to Borderlands, Hitman was a niche franchise.
Hasn't each Hitman game had its own publisher over the years like Edios, Square, WB, and then finally they went private/indie and took Epic's money probably because they didn't have the publisher backing. hitman games were also on steam until h3. I don't like the exclusive deals but I can understand why these companies would take Epic's paycheck.
